We treat our patients like family at Arogya Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre, and we work together to achieve the best possible orthotic and prosthetic outcomes.
We create individualised solutions for people of all ages, including cutting-edge prosthetics, braces, shoes, and other equipment, all of which are meant to improve the mobility and function of the people we help.
Orthosis: An externally placed device that supports a weaker body component. They support the lower limbs, upper limbs, or spine, as needed, and can be used to prevent or repair deformities, whether congenital or acquired.
Orthotics are used to treat the following medical conditions:
- Stroke
- Road traffic accident (Traumatic brain or Spinal cord injury)
- Hand and foot deformities
- Spina bifida
- Post polio residual paralysis
- Scoliosis
- Leprosy and numerous other clinical conditions.
Prosthesis: A prosthesis is a device that artificially replaces a missing part of an extremity or a portion of it. Artificial limbs are another name for them. Prosthesis can be
- Cosmetic – to restore a natural appearance, such as a nasal prosthesis, finger prosthesis, or ear prosthesis, for example.
- Functional – to replace the function of a missing portion, such as a below-knee prosthetic.
Role of orthotist: The orthotist is a crucial part of the interdisciplinary neurorehabilitation team. The goal of an orthotist is to discover and prevent deformities as early as possible. They play a critical role in enhancing the functional outcome by altering their lifestyle and boosting their quality of life.
